this is going to be a long post (don't worry, mostly images). one of my heroes in the fashion world took his own life last night. and there is something so tragic about a creative genius being gone.. not ever being able to see another collection with his crazy and theatrical point of view, no more of his revolutionary visions... as of today, his work is finite... and that is a real tragedy.
there are a few designers today that can completely change the direction of fashion as alexander mcqueen did. we only saw so little of his career... the things he could have done next season, next year, 10 years from now.
i have been a huge fan of alexander mcqueens for so long.. it seems as though he was alway there to inspire ever since i have been involved in the fashion industry (either from under grad/post grad/internships/working in fashion), and i could have only dreamed to be as talented and as creative with such a scope of what is possible and to make fashion the fun and fantastical thing that it can be.
yes, clothes are clothes, but he gave me inspiration and hope and dreams... that you don't have to be a boring old clothing company to survive in this industry.
R.I.P. alexander mcqueen.
here's a retrospective of some of my favorites from his various collections throughout the years.
